 7/6 - VETERANS FOR PEACE:

With the 4th of July just behind us, now is a good time to think about the MANY people, past and present, that have given their lives so you and I can buy records, have picinics and live our lives in relative "peace". While on a recent trip my wife and I met an interesting couple. The husband is a Veitnam Vet. He, with many others, have started an organization to help further the cause of Peace. I know that some wars are necessary (WW II) but a lot could/should have been avoided. It's their goal to "attack" things more diplomatically. If you can, please take a minute to check out their site and if it's interesting to you sign up and get involved. Hey, who doesn't want a better future with more peace and less war? The war thing doesn't seem to working right now. Change CAN start today and it CAN start with YOU.

WHAT'S ON MY TURNTABLE THIS WEEK?
Here's a list of what I've been listening to THIS week:
MFD lp "Full Volume"
Social Unrest 12" Rat in a Maze"
Sloppy Seconds lp "Destroyed"

REVIEWS:
Here's a few that crossed my player: By the way, just so you know where I'm coming from, here are a couple of my all time fav's: The Dickies, Stiff Little Fingers, Social Unrest, Adolescents, China White, The Germs, Weirdos, Buzzcocks, Pegboy, Devo to name a few.

Agent Orange 7"., "Bloodstains/Everything Turns Grey" Man, I love these guys! Such a great band. Side A "Bloodstains" is live but it's almost hard to tell because it's such a great recording. "Everything..." is also a different recording. Only 300 made, hand #'d, colored wax makes this a must have!

C.O.P. 7"ep., "Citizens on Patrol" A very impressive first release from this young band, and regulars to the store. They always buy that Mystic stuff and so it makes sense their band is very much like that. You may think this was recorded in the early 80's. Fans of Nardcore, especially Ill Reputte will love this one. Good job guys! Get this!

Regulations 7"ep., "Different Needs". One of the few "new" bands I actually like. A cross between (od) Black Flag and Descendents. I liked this release but at times it seems like they're "going through the motions". Maybe not heart-felt. It's a solid release but I think they've done better. Still worth getting for sure.

Said Radio cd "Tidal Waves and Teeth" Singer of Unit Pride, Nerve Agents, Redemption '87 new band. If you like ANY of those bands youre going to love this one. Modern day "hardcore"... No surprises, you get what you would expect here, which isn't a bad thing. This, the one we have, is a limited tour pressing so get it while you can.

Subhumans lp "Internal Riot" I've always had a lot of respect for this band but can't say I've ever really been "into" them. I'm more of a Citizen Fish fan I guess. But this new lp is AWESOME! I loved it at first listen. Powerful, anger, and still fighting the good fight! I'd have to say this is one of their BEST releases in ther over 20 year career. Get this!! Trust me!

Supersuckers/Eddie Spaghetti 7"ep., "split" This one kida surprised me. I've always "liked" the Supersuckers, never "loved" them but this is really good. More Punk ROCK than "punk" but still has that drive and energy. Plus a great recording helps it out a lot. The Eddie (singer of Supersuckers) side is what really surprised me. It's much more of a country "twang" (I hate country!) but this is so catchy it's hard not to like it. Seems like this could be on the soundtrack for some 1070's movie starring Burt Reynolds or Dennis Weaver. Hey, get this, it's a great record. VERY limited, 4 songs, etc...

Undead 7"ep., "Be My Ghoul" I've always liked the Undead musically but vocally it's been hit or miss. Tis one is a "hit". Two live songs (good recording) and two studio. Great production, great vocals and music. This is a must have! And it's VERY limited, hnd #'d, etc... Once it's gone we can't get more...

Varukers cd "No Masters, No Slaves" Thsi is an excellent collection from one of my "old time" fav's. 32 songs, South American import. get this while you can. Once it's gone, it's gone for good.
